How to pack for a Fly-In Fishing Trip Here are some general suggestions. To save weight, beer
or pop should be bought in cans rather than in bottles, or even
better. Cases of pop and beer eat into your weight allowance
and we recommend that you take soft drinks in powdered form.
We haven't found instant beer yet, but there is excellent powdered
lemonade mix; try some before you do the actual shopping for
your fly-in trip.
Our propane-powered refrigerators are good, but not as large
as what you have at home. Consider bringing a cooler with ice
to preserve perishables in case you have problems with the propane
fridge, this will help until we are able to fly-in and repair
it.
Please do not try to load long fishing rod tubes on the airplane.
Instead, rods can be bundled together with pipe cleaners or tie-wraps.
Try to use medium size duffel bags to pack your clothing and
personal items instead of large suit cases.
To transport groceries, pick reasonably small cardboard boxes.
We recommend packing your perishables in two medium coolers instead
of one large due to limited cargo space in the aircraft.
Make sure your medications fly in with you on the same trip. Your
extra baggage flight, if necessary, may not arrive quickly enough.
